Michael has over 30 years of experience in landscape planning and design, construction, project management, and residential development. As a licensed Landscape Architect and licensed Contractor in the State of California, he has provided planning, design, technical analysis, and construction administration for a wide range of projects including custom residential, schools, mixed-use developments, and hospitality environments.
His dual experience as both a builder and a Landscape Architect enables him to deliver cost-effective construction solutions while creating uniquely designed, enduring spaces.
Michael is one of the founders of Integrated Design Studio (IDS), which celebrates its 20th year in business this year. The firm is based in Mill Valley, with its studio located in the Tam Junction neighborhood. As the founder of the IDS team, Michael leads the firm in creating environmentally sensitive and people-friendly spaces that reflect a distinctive blend of naturally occurring features, innovative configurations, and rich textures.
Raised in San Anselmo, CA, Michael now lives in Mill Valley with his wife and daughter. His deep roots in the Bay Area and lifelong connection to the landscape influence his work as a Landscape Architect, residential designer, and builder. He brings a unique blend of design sensibility and construction insight to every project—an approach that connects architecture thoughtfully and seamlessly to the outdoor environment.
Michael has completed numerous projects where he has served as the visionary, development proponent, and development manager. Outside of work, you’ll find him hiking local trails with his family and dogs, sailing or kitesurfing across the Bay Area and beyond, or biking the region’s scenic back roads.
