Jane is a founding Principal Landscape Architect of Integrated Design Studio, Inc. (IDS) with more than 35 years of experience working at the intersection of people, nature, and outdoor space. Her career is grounded in landscape architecture, master planning, recreation, wellness, and community-based facilitation.
Jane began her professional path in outdoor leadership and recreation, serving as a camp director in New England. She later moved to California and earned a master’s degree in Recreation from San Francisco State University, where she went on to teach courses in leisure wellness, outdoor leadership, and developmental play processes. During this time, she also served as director of a university-based program that provided training for recreation and camp staff in facilitating inclusive, age-appropriate activities for youth of all abilities. This early work grounded Jane’s lifelong interest in social dynamics, group processes, and the restorative power of outdoor environments.
In 2005 co-founded Integrated Design Studio, Inc. Over nearly two decades, she played a central leadership role in shaping IDS’s collaborative design approach, leading master planning and landscape design projects for schools, community-based organizations, residential developments and hospitality. Her work is informed by her experience as a long-term educator, facilitator, and nature retreat leader. Jane brings this perspective to planning and design by emphasizing how outdoor spaces can support presence, restoration, social connection, and meaningful engagement with nature.
Today, Jane continues her relationship with IDS as a consulting Founding Principal, collaborating closely with the firm, particularly on master planning and landscape architecture projects where people–nature relationships are central. Her consulting role allows her to focus on project visioning, programming, and design strategies that support meaningful outdoor experiences, while complementing IDS’s ongoing practice. This collaborative model reflects a shared belief that Jane’s specialized focus enhances the firm’s work and strengthens project outcomes.
In parallel, Jane is the founder of Green Insights, a consulting practice centered on mindfulness, nature, design, and community. Through Green Insights, she leads nature-based retreats, mindfulness courses, and community-based facilitation, bringing contemplative practices into outdoor and community-focused settings. She is an internationally certified mindfulness teacher and regularly works with groups seeking deeper connection to place, self, and one another through nature-based experiences. This work often intersects naturally with master planning and landscape projects, where mindfulness, restoration, and group experience are integral to the success of outdoor spaces.
In her spare time, Jane enjoys hiking, biking, water sports, and spending time outdoors with her wife and their small dog.
